DND Learning Trust Welcomes Significant Funding Boost for St George’s CE Academy

We are delighted to share the news that St George’s CE Academy has secured a substantial funding boost through Section 106 education capital contributions from Darlington Borough Council. This investment marks an important step in enhancing the educational environment and support for students and families in our community.

This funding will enable the Academy to expand and improve its facilities in ways that reflect our shared commitment to inclusive education and every child’s flourishing. Specifically, the project will:

  • Extend Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision, ensuring there are sufficient high-quality Reception spaces for young learners and new families in the area.

  • Improve and enlarge the Key Stage 1 playground, enhancing capacity and providing safe, purposeful outdoor play and learning opportunities.

  • Develop a dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision, including a specialist SEND room and a bespoke outdoor SEND area to support sensory and therapeutic experiences for pupils with additional needs.

Pupil numbers at St George’s have grown in recent years, and projections show the school’s capacity will be nearly full in the coming years. This funding ensures that the school can continue to meet rising demand while delivering nurturing and inclusive education for all children.

As part of the DND Learning Trust family of schools, St George’s CE Academy continues to uphold the values that define our Trust: every child matters, every voice is respected, and no one is left behind.

We are proud to see this investment aligned with our goals to create environments where children are supported, encouraged and celebrated as they grow, learn and thrive.

We offer our sincere thanks to Darlington Borough Council and all partners involved in securing and allocating this funding.
