Strong Foundations for Learning

We focus on key areas to support children to flourish throughout their entire educational journey.

Early Years: A positive start

We believe that giving children the best possible start to their education lays the foundations for future success.

The proportion of children achieving a Good Level of Development at the end of Reception is significantly higher than the national average, demonstrating that pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their learning.

Phonics: Building strong foundations

Early reading is a priority across our schools. We prioritise high-quality phonics teaching from the earliest stages of education, helping children develop the skills to recognise, blend and read words confidently.

Our pupils consistently achieve significantly above the national average in the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, demonstrating the strong foundations they are developing in early reading.

Reading: Developing confident, enthusiastic readers

Reading is at the heart of learning across our schools. Beyond developing essential phonics skills, we encourage children to build their reading fluency, comprehension and enjoyment of books.

By the end of Key Stage 2, pupils consistently achieve significantly above the national average in reading at the expected standard, with pupils also performing well at the higher standard.

These outcomes reflect our commitment to helping children become confident, capable readers who are well prepared for secondary education.

Mathematics: Developing essential skills

Our pupils continue to demonstrate strong mathematical knowledge and confidence.

Results from the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check have improved over three consecutive years, with almost half of pupils achieving full marks in the most recently reported results.

Key Stage 2: Ready for the next chapter

By the end of primary school, our pupils consistently perform significantly above national averages in reading, writing and mathematics at the expected standard, with strong outcomes also achieved at the higher standard.

These results demonstrate the progress pupils make throughout their primary education and help ensure they are well prepared for the transition to secondary school.

A Place Where Pupils Enjoy Learning

We believe that educational success goes beyond academic achievement.

Creating welcoming, supportive school environments where pupils feel happy, valued and motivated to learn is central to our approach.

Attendance across DND Learning Trust is consistently above the national average, reflecting the positive engagement of our pupils and school communities.
